Calm and connected

To stumble upon the void
The crevasse into space, into atmosphere, into light not darkness, into wind
Feel the heaviness of one’s feet on the stone

Touch the water as an animal that contemplates nothing
Sensations: cold, wet, resistance, bubbles, shimmering submersion
Touch the animal, both enjoy the furry rub

Dangerous perch
What’s holding it there? What’s holding me here?
How do I interact with such a delicate balance?

The earth is gone, the feet are light, the legs are numb
Air rushing over our ears
Hear our breathing clearer than ever

Within our boat, our movement
Our feel, our run,
Our body

Explorers

Whale watching.  Juvenile Megaptera novaeangliae seen swimming alone, sandbar harvester, bubbling menace to fishmen and krill babies.  A feeder, a heaving consumer, an accretion of flotsam so lovable it's on a colored pencil poster on my desk at school.  The Explorers don the reverse of said deskspace, the public board... so unequipped they can only be explorers and nothing other.  How can you prepare for the unexplored?  Effectively?  With a great attitude.  That's what I like most about Buddy - her attitude.  It's fun, unpretentious, curious, fascinated unapologetically by the splendid abounding phenomena of reality.  Babies, sharks, dinos, dino-shaped frozen chicken nuggets, extinct sharks that ate dinos, drawings, substances, sex, a cappella.  And the passion, the passion for her sport, it's more inspirational even than her records in it.  Pedigree was mentioned to me recently in reference to an inferior hull (for me inferior, in it I'm a slower vessel)... "but it's got so much pedigree," so it went.  I don't care for pedigree.  It's like potential - it means little, nothing actually, to the present adventure.  I want an Explorer, not a seasoned expert.  I want the best there is now, what is good, forget what "could be".  Let's start at ten and go to ten thousand.  Long distances are her specialty, after all.  "I miss you" is one thing...visits are gigantically generous, valuable beyond all promises and excuses.  It's a beautiful privilege for each of us to have the other... and not entirely chance that we should meet.  I'll explain next time.  See what is happening and make your own destiny in the present.
